Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 also known professionally under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Her first single was released for the label on Oct. 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she started to gain notoriety. Her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 when she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her own single Bound along with her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes in the song Sweat it Out. Later that year her music was circulating all over the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some potential references to Rihanna. The news was released on December 8, that she was signed to Dreamville Records. On the record Revenge of the Dreamers II She was on the track Backseat alongside Cozz. She released Pho, her debut EP, on the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and also performed as the opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, Ari Lennox performed on two tracks with EarthGang On Nothing but the Best, and Bas, on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16. The music video was then followed by a short video in September. On the 9th of November she dropped two more singles, the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Then, on November 13 the singer released two new singles titled One and Pdigree. One as well as Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed together with Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on the 16th of November. It then came out as a standalone single in February of 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. The track was accompanied by an accompanying music video that debuted in February 20th, 2019 that surpassed three million views via YouTube within its first seven days. She was part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour back in December of the year 2018.
