She was a designer, singer and performer and broke barriers in the world of music. She was at once contemporary and traditional a Mexican-American singer who brought together the two worlds in a singular way--and brought excellent Tejano music to a mass public. Much like when an incredibly bright and friendly star is lost far too early the tragic loss of her life has thrown her profile into a quagmire. People mourned the entire extent of the potential that was not fully realized. Since then, her fans have been working more to never forget the achievements she's achieved. Her tragic death in a shooting triggered a response in the Latino Community, similar as the reaction to deaths of Elvis Presley or John Lennon. The music of Selena an artist who was hugely success across Latino communities throughout North America touched people young as well as old. The sexy and glamorous stage performer sometimes hailed as Selena the Latina Madonna Selena was nonetheless considered a role model for Off-stage, she was also a family oriented actively involved in anti-drug campaigning and AIDS awareness campaigns.
