Kim Delaney is an American actress best known for playing Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she won the Emmy Award. Also, she is known for her role in the drama All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney was the child of an executive at the United Auto Workers who was also a mother. Delaney has four older brothers. As a child she longed to be a court reporter. After graduating from high school and moving to New York in the 1980s, she began modeling. Her first role as an actor was as a teen innocent on All My Children, a 1981 soap opera. Delaney is an acclaimed actress, appearing in many films, TV movies, and dramas. Contrary to her impressive professional career, Delaney's personal one is not as happy and prosperous. The accomplished actor has struggled with alcoholism and she has experienced two marriages that failed. The year 2005 was the time she lost custody of the sole child that she had.
